The mission of Both Sides of the Bridge is to preserve and promote the personal narratives of racially and culturally diverse Flagler County long-term residents.
Since 1920, the Moody Bridge in Flagler County has stood as both a literal and symbolic divide. For some, it opened access to homes, jobs, and beachfront recreation. For others—especially residents of color—it represented exclusion, segregation, and barriers to opportunity.
Both Sides of the Bridge seeks to preserve the personal narratives of Flagler County’s longtime residents, both Black and White, to illuminate how the bridge shaped community life throughout the twentieth century.
Through oral histories, we aim to acknowledge the past, foster understanding, and ensure every voice is valued in building a more inclusive future.
